Sam G man of the match

Very pleased with a much improved performance from the team against a strong Normanton side yesterday.

Despite going behind early on, the players "dug in" and battled their way back into the game. At 4-2 going into the last Q, the next goal was going to be crucial & unfortunately it went against us - but we kept going until the end with much positive play and a good attitude.

The defence consisting variously of Max, Jack, Harry, Lewis, Noah & Jake generally kept a good line, were disciplined & competitive throughout. ?

Special mentions to Max who was excellent and Jake who did a great job keeping their tricky winger relatively quiet in the second half ?

Behind them, SamG in nets was in inspired form. Despite an injured hand he produced a string of fine saves and interceptions - a real captains performance- and deserved MoM ?

After being a little deep in the first Q, the midfield variously comprising Big Sam, the hard working Izzy, Charlie, Lewis, Harry, Noah, Jack & Jake improved positionally as the game went on, worked hard and created some good openings going forward. ?

Up front Toby & Izzy were excellent, working hard for the team, pressurising opponents, holding the ball and bringing others into the game ?

Our goals came by virtue of 2 super finishes from Toby, a solo dribble and curling shot from Charlie and a penalty crashed into the roof of the net by Big Sam ?
