Riccall United Football Club is delighted to announce the development of its new Women & Girls section, marking an exciting step forward in the club's commitment to providing football opportunities for everyone within the local community.

A key part of this growth is the launch of a FA Wildcats programme, delivered in partnership with Riccall Community Primary School. The programme will provide girls aged 7-11 with a fun, safe and engaging introduction to football, helping to inspire the next generation of players while building confidence, friendships and a love for the game.

Leading the new section is Women & Girls Officer, Kaitlin Northern, who will play a central role in developing girls' football across the club. Alongside overseeing the growth of the Women & Girls pathway, Kaitlin will head up the Wildcats programme and contribute to coaching and player development, ensuring girls have the opportunity to progress and enjoy football at every stage of their journey.

The creation of the Women & Girls section reflects Riccall United's ambition to grow participation, create inclusive opportunities, and strengthen links with local schools and the wider community. With strong foundations in place and exciting plans for the future, the club looks forward to welcoming more girls into football and developing a thriving female pathway for years to come.

About the Wildcats

Sessions will be held on Tuesdays from 3:30pm to 4:30pm and start on 29 September. Boots, shin pads and a drink are all required.

I’m Kaitlin Northern, Assistant Head at Riccall School and advocate of football for all children! I play for a women’s team, and both of my daughters play too, so football is a big part of our family life.
I’m passionate about championing girls’ and women’s football, creating opportunities and inspiring the next generation. I’m excited to bring that passion to my own community and help get more girls and women involved in the game!
